Meet Darren, the founding attorney at Pfeil Law, LLC. Darren received a Bachelor of Arts from Lehigh University in 2012, graduating summa cum laude. He received a Graduation Award for Service, was a Baccalaureate Student Speaker, and was Phi Beta Kappa. In 2015, Darren received a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Concentration in Intellectual Property Law, Entertainment Law Track, graduating cum laude and in the top 25% of his class. He received Graduation Award for Humanitarian Achievement.
During law school, Darren interned at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark: Immigration Legal Services, the United States Postal Service - Law Department Northeast (New York City, focusing on employment law), BMG Chrysalis (BMG Rights Management (US) LLC) (New York City, focusing on entertainment law), Seton Hall Law Center for Social Justice: Equal Justice Clinic (Newark, NJ focusing on governmental tort claims), and for a general practice law firm.
After his graduation from Seton Hall University School of Law, Darren served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Honora O'Brien Kilgallen, J.S.C. While being a judicial clerk has provided him with unique insights into the Court and invaluable experiences, one notable achievement was drafting a 70+ page Opinion on a consolidated six Petitions for Post-Conviction Relief that was subsequently affirmed by the Appellate Division. After his clerkship, Darren entered private practice. He has been a municipal prosecutor for several local municipalities and served as Special Prosecutor for Middlesex County Consumer Affairs.
Darren has authored the article, "Let's Play, Let's Infringe? Let's Play Videos Uploaded to YouTube, Copyright Infringement, and the Fair Use Defense," which has been cited internationally and domestically. He attended ReedPop's New York City Comic Con in October 2017 and 2019 as an Entertainment Law Professional. He is also passionate about the Wills for Heroes pro bono programs, in which wills, living wills, health care powers of attorney, and financial powers of attorneys are drafted for first responders, veterans, and their spouses. While he got his start with Wills for Heroes in Pennsylvania (and continues to actively participate in Pennsylvania events), Darren was named Co-Chair of Wills for Heroes in New Jersey in 2019 and served through 2022. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustee's for the non-profit, Mayor Cohen's Charity Fund (2019-2023).
